2 LightStream 2020 Upgrade to Dual Power Cords

Performing an Orderly Shutdown

The kits include

• 2 power trays

• 1 or 2 disk assemblies, each with 4 screws, 4 washers and 2 plastic insulating sheets

• 1 power cord kit

• 1 AC cover plate

• 2 screws for cover plate

• This upgrade procedure

In addition to the upgrade kit, you need

• A phillips screwdriver for installing the AC cover plate

• A slot-tip screwdriver for removing and disassembling disk assemblies

• A grounding wrist strap

• A nonconducting mat

Note This upgrade procedure interrupts LS2020 service.

Performing an Orderly Shutdown

This section provides a procedure for shutting down an LS2020 switch with one NP, and a second

procedure for shutting down a switch with two NPs. Perform the shutdown procedure that is

appropriate for your system, then proceed to the next section, “Replacing the Power Trays.”

Shutting Down a System with One NP

To gracefully shut down an LS2020 system with one NP, perform the following steps:

Step 1 Connect a terminal to the console port at the rear of the chassis, dial in through the modem port,

or telnet to the chassis. If you use telnet, skip to Step 3.

Step 2 At the TCS hub prompt, issue the command connect <slot#> to connect to the NP. (The

example below assumes that you are connecting to the NP in slot 1.)

TCS hub<<A>> connect 1

Step 3 Log in to the NP as root.

Step 4 From the prompt, enter the following:

# reboot -n

Step 5 Turn off system power.

Shutting Down a System with Two NPs

To gracefully shut down an LS2020 system with two NPs, perform the following steps:

Step 1 Connect a terminal to the console port at the rear of the chassis, dial in through the modem port,

or telnet to the backup NP. If you use telnet, skip to Step 3.
