Reporter
Description Reporter requires an accessible X server to generate reports
Symptom Reports fail to be generated, and messages from cron indicate a problem
with the X server. In some cases, reports are not executed at the correct
time, instead they are postponed until an X server is accessible.
Work-Around Ensure that the X display associated with a report is available at the
time the report will be generated via cron, and that you are authorized
to connect to the X server.
The display associated with a report is determined by the value of the
DISPLAY environment variable at the time the report is generated (if
any) or at the time the report was saved.
If you use CDE or HP VUE, ensure that someone is logged in to the sys-
tem represented by the X display and that CDE or HP VUE is running.
(In other words, the system should not be at the CDE or VUE login
screen.)
Description www_rename does not change the contents of old GIF files
(charts & graphs), particularly the agent or component name in
the GIFs
Symptom When using Reporter on the Web to view past data, the customer may
notice that old GIF files contain an agent or component name which is
not the current name.
Details The www_rename script only changes names in text files (Glance, Net-
sum, and TopN kinds of data). GIF files are not altered in any way, and
they retain the agent or component name known to reportgen at the time
those GIFs were created.
Work-Around Reporter on the Web shows the current name for agent or component in
the report heading of the HTML page.
