Known Problems and Work-Arounds
38 October 1, 1998
Description Creating more than 60 echo tests on a probe results in an error
message
Symptom When you create more than 60 echo tests on a LanProbe, a message indi-
cating that “an error occurred when attempting to set the slow-response
RMON alarm for the target… Please try again.”
Details Most probes support up to 100 echo tests but have a maximum of 60
alarms. When you create a response test on a probe, IRM configures an
alarm that triggers when the response time is slow. If 60 alarms have
been configured (whether for echo tests or for other purposes), configur-
ing any additional echo tests will result in the error message.
[Defect ID 0804–009191]
Work-Around None. Note that any affected echo test targets will indicate available/
unavailable status correctly; this problem affects only the slow-response
status.
Description Setting the LanProbe test interval in IRM using the “Set to
Defaults” button has no effect
Details IRM’s Configuration➤Distributed Network Analysis➤Set LanProbe Test
Interval menu item changes the echo test interval for a LanProbe. Push-
ing the “Set to Defaults” button in the resulting window has no effect.
[Defect ID 0804–009357]
Work-Around Instead of using the Set to Defaults button, change the seconds field to
60, then press OK.
