HP OpenView NetMetrix/UX Release Notes version 6.0
October 1, 1998
Changes from NetMetrix version 5.0 to 6.0
5967–4358 5
Disk Space (approximate)
Note that the installation confirms that you have sufficient disk space.
All NetMetrix filesets:
250MB for HP-UX, including 55MB in /opt/OV
240MB for Solaris, including 60MB in /opt/OV
Most NetMetrix files are placed in /usr/netm/ and /opt/OV/.
A few files are put in other standard locations (e.g., /usr/lib/X11/
app-defaults).
Changes from NetMetrix version 5.0 to 6.0
A new application, called Agent Manager, replaces Agent Toolbox and
ERM Configurator. Agent Manager has several functions: agent defini-
tion, data collection configuration, ERM association, and application
launching. Agent Manager lets you define and work with any device
with which NetMetrix applications interoperate.
The Agent Manager application includes the following capabilities:
Easy agent definition, with minimum user input. The application
figures out as much as possible from the agent itself once you pro-
vide the telemetry address and community string.
Optional friendly naming of most entities in the agent database
Hierarchical outline view lets you expand or collapse the level of
detail shown.
Multiple items can be selected and modified as a group.
For details on using Agent Manager, including instructions for upgrad-
ing existing NetMetrix agent.db, inetmon.config, and ovpmhd.conf files,
refer to the Agent Manager chapter in Data Collector Reference.
A new application, called ERM Monitor, lets you view status informa-
tion for the ERMs configured in your agent database. This new applica-
tion, together with Agent Manager, replaces all the capabilities of ERM
Configurator. For information on ERM Monitor, refer to the Extended
RMON Module chapter in Data Collector Reference.
